About Tawang (Arunachal Pradesh)

Tawang is a mystical Himalayan realm nestled at 3,048 meters in the northwestern corner of Arunachal Pradesh, bordering Tibet and Bhutan. Revered as the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama, Tawang is crowned by the monumental 17th-century Tawang Monastery (the second-largest Buddhist monastery in the world after Lhasa's Potala). Tawang Monastery (Galden Namgey Lhatse)

Yes. Indian tourists require an Inner Line Permit (ILP) to enter Arunachal Pradesh. We process ILPs for all our package travellers prior to departure.

Bum La Pass requires special permits from the Deputy Commissioner's office in Tawang and Army Brigade verification. We arrange local SUV transport and permits.

The classic route is: Guwahati to Bhalukpong/Nameri (1N), Dirang (1N), Tawang (2N), and Bomdila (1N) return. This gradual ascent ensures proper acclimatization.

April to June offers pleasant weather and blooming rhododendrons. October to November offers clear blue skies. December to February brings heavy snowfall across Sela Pass.
