Meghalaya — Frequently Asked Questions

October to April offers dry, sunny, and pleasant weather (12°C to 22°C), ideal for trekking to root bridges, caving, and Dawki boat rides. June-September is the monsoon peak for roaring falls.

The trek from Tyrna village to Nongriat involves descending and ascending approx. 3,500 stone steps (takes 4-5 hours return). We provide bamboo walking sticks and local guides.

Guwahati Airport (GAU) is 120km (approx. 3.5 hours drive) from Shillong. Cherrapunji is another 54km (2 hours drive) further south into the cloud plateau.

The river is crystal clear like transparent glass from November to April. During the heavy monsoon rains (May to September), the river becomes muddy.

Meghalaya follows a traditional matrilineal Khasi society where women are deeply respected. It is one of the safest and most hospitable destinations in India.
